Discovering Wonder and Protecting Wild Places

A Personal Journey from Childhood Awe in the Rockies to a Lifelong Mission to Protect Nature

There is something timeless about mountains and wide open spaces. They call to us in a way that shapes who we are. For me, it began as a little girl growing up in the Rockies, where towering peaks stood like silent guardians through life’s storms and celebrations alike. Whenever I felt overwhelmed or uncertain, I only had to look up. There, the mountains rose, majestic and steadfast, their forested slopes reaching for snow covered summits that seemed to cradle the very sky.

It was this deep connection to wild places that inspired my husband and I to start True Nature Media. While I grew up in the Rockies, my husband’s roots run deep in the deserts and wilderness of Arizona, where he spent his childhood exploring and hunting rugged landscapes. Together, we share a profound respect and love for these wild places.

We wanted to create something that could share the magic and healing power of the outdoors, encouraging everyone to step outside, breathe in fresh air, and feel a sense of belonging in nature. But more than that, we wanted to protect these mountains, deserts, and open spaces that have given us so much. Through stories, images, and resources, we hope to inspire not just admiration, but action, helping preserve the wilderness for generations to come.

A Lifelong Connection to the Wild

Those mountains have traveled with me all my life, living in my memory and heart. When I moved to Arizona, I discovered a new kind of wild beauty: the desert’s rugged ridges, red rock canyons, and endless open skies. That same sense of grounding and wonder I knew as a child lived here too, woven into this ancient land.

These wild places have shaped who I am. They remind me to slow down, breathe deeply, and remember what truly matters.

"The more time you spend in nature, the more you understand its quiet power, and the more you feel called to protect it."

This connection is why my husband and I founded True Nature Media, to inspire you to step outside and reconnect with the natural world.

Why Protection Matters

Protecting these places is not just the responsibility of a few. It is a promise we all share. Every hiker, camper, and outdoor lover holds a role in keeping our wild spaces alive and thriving.

Here are some simple ways to enjoy the outdoors gently, helping preserve their magic for generations to come.

How to Enjoy the Outdoors Responsibly

Leave No Trace Tips

Plan ahead and prepare – Learn about the area, check the weather, and bring everything you need to stay safe.

Stay on marked trails – Protect fragile plants and prevent erosion by sticking to established paths.

Pack out all trash – Even small wrappers can harm wildlife and dim the land’s beauty.

Leave what you find – Rocks, flowers, and historical artifacts belong to the wild.

Minimize campfire impact – Use a camp stove or keep fires small and within established rings.

Respect wildlife – Watch quietly, never feed or disturb animals.

Be considerate of others – Keep noise low and yield the trail so everyone can enjoy the peace of nature.

"A single small action, like packing out one extra piece of trash, can ripple into big change."

A Call to Protect What We Love

Nature has given me so much: strength, clarity, and a deep sense of belonging. It has shaped my life in ways I could not have imagined as a little girl gazing up at the Rockies. My hope is that every person, every child, will one day feel that same awe and peace.

Whether you are a seasoned adventurer or just beginning to explore, I warmly invite you to join us. Step outside, breathe in the wild air, and let the land speak to your heart. Then, do your part to protect these sacred places because the wilderness needs us just as much as we need it.
